This is not just another hot springs pool.
Trust me and pay the additional fee for Greenhouse!
Great Sand Dunes National Park
The newest National Park in the U.S. registered in 2004 contains the tallest sand dunes in North America.
Sand has been blown by the predominant southwest winds toward the Sangre de Cristos, eventually forming the dunefield.
Near such interesting area, there is the noteworthy hot spring as well.
A few hot springs can be seen here.
One of the attractions is Colorado Gators Reptile Park, where uses the geothermal water.
Regular Pool for Kids
Sand Dunes Swimming Pool & RV Park is the only lodging place with hot springs pools.
Even overnight guests have to pay a 50% of the entrance fee of the pools.
I visited there for a day-use, which was $15 per adult.
It looked old-fashioned.
Next to the large Main Pool, there were Baby Pool and Therapy Pool covered with the ceiling.
The water temperature was 100 degrees F in Main Pool; 106 degrees F in Therapy Pool.
Unfortunately it was apparently chlorinated.
Kids will definitely enjoy as they have water slides.
Greenhouse for Adults
In fact all the good things for adults are in another zone.
Completely leave the pool area and go backyard of the building.
A greenhouse once cultivated vegetables has been renovated for hot springs for adults over 21 only.
Additional $5 required.
In the right side after entering the building, I found some golf simulators.
In the left side, Coffin Tub and the entire garden looked very impressive to me.
111 degrees F water was in the coffin-shaped tub.
This Steel Box Bar was where I had to pay the additional entrance fee.
Alcoholic beverages were also available.
Zero Entry Pool was dividing the indoor garden.
I saw untouched areas behind the thin and long pool.
I felt as if I were in a botanical garden walking surrounded by many tropical plants.
I observed a sauna for around 10-people.
There were three small tubs including the Coffin Tub
Deep Thought Tub was 108 degrees F.
I felt the bad smell of chlorination to some extent in every tub.
I had to highly appreciate the characteristic atmosphere, while the water quality could not be honored.
In the outdoor terrace I found nothing special to see.
It seemed that there were still further rooms for the renovation; I strongly recommend for them to additionally introduce private tubs with untreated water.
