Don't you have money to stay at a hot springs hotel in Pagosa Springs?
Hippie Dip offers a complimentary soak for anyone.
Ignorance is Bliss
I always stay at that motel with the blue roofs, Healing Waters Resort & Spa, when visiting Pagosa Springs.
Next to it along with the Sun Juan River, there is a parking lot.
Let's park here and go down to the river.
There is a simple changing room as well for getting swimsuits on.
This is the famous Hippie Dip Hot Spring right next to the bridge of Hot Springs Boulevard.
Piped water through an old PVC pipe was around 104 degrees F.
The rock pool looked easy to go under the water if raining.
However the river water was not being mixed inside the pool.
I carefully observed the PVC pipe and a Hume pipe at the root.
I could not say that this was clean.
I do not know where the origin is.
When looking this from the opposite shore, you can find steam in the upper right diagonal.
The World's Famous Geothermal Spring is located around there, so that it may be the source.
Anyway don't think it seriously and just enjoy the free hot spring.
San Juan River Walk
In the opposite shore, there is a beautiful sidewalk.
Some hot springs are gushing, and spilt water flows in the San Juan River.
The water suddenly gushes on the bank once goes underground of the river walk.
It appears again, and makes pools on the river bed.
The bluish opaque water looked to me more enchanting than Hippie Dip.
It was a little bit too shallow to soak, but I tried it searching for favorite points.
The hot water with many mineral deposits was around 111 degrees F.
I saw the Springs Resort and Spa in the opposite shore.
How wonderful it is to be able to enjoy the fabulous water at no charge.
On the way back, I saw a family enjoying Hippie Dip.
