Indeed, soaking in hot springs is widely accepted among Japanese people, and the culture relevant to hot springs has a deep history.
However, considering there are much more volcanos that can be a source of the heat in other countries, hot springs could be seen all over the world.

Do you like a private bath?
When you want to be alone, or to stay with your family, a private bath would be the best choice.
However, most private baths lack a sense of openness in a closed space surrounded by walls.
I had thought that way since I knew an alternative option of “partially” private baths in the desert.

Volcanic activities sometimes have destructive influence on human society.
Out of them, an ultra-Plinian eruption brings on a particularly large explosion that causes global change in environment and mass extinction.
Around such supervolcano, hot springs have been gushing over one million years after the eruption.

What do you think is the good points of Americans?
I like the way they seem to think the bigger something is, the better it is.
Everything from cups in a restaurant to pickup trucks running on the streets looks huge as if it were the symbol of wealth.
The world’s largest hot springs pool is in the United States.

In a campground deep in the mountains of New Mexico, there is the hot springs.
I felt the same kind of atmosphere as secluded Japanese Ryokans’ open-air baths.

The West Coast is an area of high population density, and is located on the Ring of Fire, so that there are several spa cities nearby.

Actually, I agree with the idea as a hot spring maniac, but most people seem to give importance on “experiences” surrounding the hot spring.
They will recognize a hot spring as great if they have extraordinary experiences, such as cleanly accommodation, great meals, or high quality customer services.

What is your comfort temperature for soaking?
Not only individual tastes but also cultures define the comfort temperature.
There are many hot springs in the USA, but most of them are not so hot.
Indeed, it may be reasonable considering its lower physical burden.
However, sometimes you may want to renew myself in body and spirit, by soaking in extremely hot water.

Do only Japanese people enthusiastically love hot springs?
No, it is also applicable to Korean people.
In the United States, where accept diversity of ethnic groups, Korean community is one of the forces.
They maintain a hot spring with strong smell of hydrogen sulfide, which American people generally do not understand the value.
